Tarot is a main character in Housepets!. She first appeared in n-ple Date.

She is a psychic with parinormal powers, and is the (former) avatar of the Spirit Dragon. She is also Peanut's girlfriend.

Original Site Biography[]

Tarot: Peanut’s girlfriend is a Pomeranian with ultra super psychic powers, and can commune with the spirits in order to see into the future, which she does quite often. She doesn’t explain the constant inconsistency with her power’s use or why everything has to be part of an ultra-dramatic mystical war or some such, but she can make like a holodeck with her mind. So what are you gonna do, complain?

Physical Appearance[]

Tarot is a Pomeranian with yellow eyes, though they change green whenever Spirit Dragon has influence. She has long curved ears similar to Peanut, and a large fluffy tail. In later appearances she gained a dark patch of fur between her eyes. Being a Pomeranian she is short in comparison to most characters, being on par in height with King and The Milton Ferrets. She used to wear a green collar with "Horus' Eye" on it, until Spirit Dragon lost her powers. Now she wears a red collar with a green Tarot card tag, though both it and the collar can be hard to see sometimes due to her long fur.

Personality[]

Tarot is usually rather quiet and polite. She also holds extensive knowledge about the workings of the celestials and the paranormal, and usually has to explain these things to the other characters. She is generally level-headed and offers blunt advice to those who need it such as King. She possesses great knowledge of occult and the supernatural, having been trained under Spirit Dragon herself, and is very intelligent, but occasionally finds herself unable to figure out solutions to certain situations, without some external input.

However, as the comic progresses and more supernatural events occur, Tarot begins to grow easily frustrated by the ignorance of others, as well as her own inability to solve problems that she feels she can handle, often because she is the only one with capability of doing so. However, Great Kitsune reminds her she is merely mortal and can't be expected to be able to handle everything on her own, resolving her feelings of inadequacy. Nevertheless, Tarot makes it a goal to save the world at least once, using her knowledge of magic(k) and the supernatural.

According to Sabrina, she has poor imagination. She also has trouble expressing her romantic feelings to Peanut, but nevertheless loves him. She is also shown to have a slightly sarcastic sense of humour, and is quick to point out fallacies.

General Information[]

Tarot is the 150th avatar of Spirit Dragon for the Cosmic Game. She is imbued with psychic powers, being able accurately predict the future through various tools whether it be with tarot cards or a crystal ball (later replaced by the new crystal tablet), but she can also use her abilities without tools for assistance. She has also demonstrated an ability to speak inside of Peanut's head, use telekinesis, and can create realities similar to a holo-deck (which she doesn't use anymore after an embarrassing incident with Grape.)

Tarot first appeared at the Sandwich residence after Grape and Maxwell started dating to be Peanut's girlfriend. Despite showcasing her paranormal powers such as levitation and talking to spirits, Peanut was unfazed by this and accepted Tarot despite Grape's initial skepticism. Later, while trying to find a missing Zach, she telepathically warns Peanut to stop them from opening Pete's temple, but Peanut is too distracted by the fact she can talk in his head to stop Zach and Grape from releasing Pete.

Tarot, having foreseen Peanut was going to call her, arrives at the Sandwich residence to play with Peanut, Grape and Maxwell. She uses her powers to project a reality set in the Pridelands universe--but things get complicated as Peanut continually feels left out by Grape and Max and storms off, ending the game early. Tarot explains to Grape how she made Peanut feel bad by ignoring him in favor of Max, leading Grape to apologize to Peanut. While discussing his feelings to Grape, Peanut admits he can't stop thinking about Tarot and puts his crush to rest. This would be the last time Tarot uses her mental projection powers.

At the Good Ol' Dogs Club summer cookout, King gets drunk on orange soda and hits on many of the females, including Tarot. However Tarot shocks him out of his intoxication by stating she "doesn't date humans." When King follows her into the woods, Tarot transforms into Spirit Dragon, and King learns of the Cosmic Game. Spirit Dragon explains that she sent Tarot to be Peanut's girlfriend as a means of countering the machinations of Pete, who intended to make Grape, and later Peanut, his avatar; as avatars cannot be in love at the start--however Spirit Dragon forms her own crush on Peanut, and would repeatedly try to take Peanut for herself, sometimes by possessing Tarot, often to Tarot's annoyance.

Later on it is shown that Tarot has taken Sabrina as an apprentice, making a prediction that in three years she would nearly drown. Tarot would then go on to make ancillary appearances, often playing multiple roles in Peanut's Imaginates! and taking Peanut to PsyCon. She later tries to warn King about Pete's plans for him, but he merely slams the door in her face.

Gallifrax Protocol

Tarot takes Peanut to the Gallifrax Dimension on a double date, once there she explains that Spirit Dragon's crush on Peanut has caused friction between the two and weakened her powers (Peanut believed that this meant she was becoming more "normal"), and that Peanut must choose between them. Peanut reluctantly turns down Spirit Dragon. Later on, Tarot is seen pulling Peanut by his ear, intending to put him in the doghouse for his "normal" comment, even though they don't live together. She also later attends King's wedding, where she catches the bouquet with the help of Karishad. Unfortunately, we do not get to see Peanut in the scene, who may perhaps have taken flight, as soon as she caught it.

Heaven's Not Enough

Tarot, along with Sabrina are whisked away to Australia once the Cosmic Game begins proper, where she engages in combat in the desert against Pete's new acquired avatar Bailey. Knowing what will transpire, she leaves Peanut the Cosmic Lantern to give to King, who has reverted back to a human. While battling against Bailey, she continually texts Karishad--this gives King the lead he needs after returning from Heaven and heads to the Outback with several others to bring Bailey home. After getting lost in the desert, Tarot appears next to them, explaining that the lantern neutralizes the effects of celestial beings; King uses the lantern to the stop Bailey and Sabrina from fighting and convinces them not to let the celestials dictate their lives. They return to town for milkshakes, and Pete and Spirit Dragon both appear with Great Kitsune, who tells the two that everyone has decided to forfeit and that they will lose the game if they do not convince the others to keep fighting. Spirit Dragon tries to persuade Tarot, but Tarot brings up the fact that not only did Spirit Dragon goad her into becoming Peanut’s girlfriend despite not knowing him, but also the fact Spirit Dragon continually tried to steal Peanut from her even after she had decided she wanted to keep him as a boyfriend. This ultimately contributes to Dragon's loss, and Tarot and Sabrina's powers diminish (but not disappear completely.)

Housepets 5000 BC[]

Tarot's next major role was went Spirit Dragon accidentally sent her second avatar Satau five-thousand years into the future. She tries asking Great Kitsune to intervene but he encourages her to find a solution herself. She ends up using the bit of mana that Keene received from Pete to use a spell to send Satau back to his own time--but the spell ends up going awry sending her, Peanut, Grape, Max, Sabrina and Satau all back to the past. While in the past, the group hide themselves from Spirit Dragon using the Cosmic Lantern, and Tarot worries about creating a time-paradox if Dragon discovers them. Feeling helpless over the situation she snaps at the others, leading Peanut to try to comfort her. In the end, the gang accidentally causes a war between the native cats and dogs, causing the Cosmic Lantern to shatter. This allows Spirit Dragon to discover the group and she sends them back to their time while erasing her memories of them to prevent the paradox. Back in the present Tarot expresses frustration that she had worried over nothing, but Sabrina assures her they made the right call by playing it safe.

Temple Crashers 2[]

Later on, Keene Milton decides to extract the mana from Pete's temple in order to force animal-equity onto the world. Sabrina chides Keene for his shortsightedness and forms a team with Tarot, Fox, Mungo and angels Spring and Summer to get to the mana first and drain it so it can't be used. Tarot is able to use her limited psychic abilities to traverse the temple, even running into Peanut, Grape, Max and Res--but she leaves them behind as she doesn't want to be held back. However, Peanut manages to help by using a paper-bag to turn into the "Puzzle Master" and bypass a difficult puzzle. Once they reach the mana pool, Tarot fights against Keene who is trying to get to the mana using her enhanced form, but he manages to evade her attacks using his night cap. Tarot angrily tries to tell Keene about the consequences of misusing the mana, but Keene is so focused on his own short-sighted goals that he ignores her and dives into the mana--only to be stopped by Breel. After Keene rejects Breel, Breel's tears accidentally open a portal to the Netherworld; Tarot explains to Keene how the mana can end up destroying the world. Keene goes to rescue Breel, but not before admitting to Tarot he was wrong. Tarot, along with everyone else, manages to escape with the help of Dallas.

After the whole misadventure, Tarot confronts Great Kitsune for making her look like a fool for being unable to handle the situation she was capable of handling. Kitsune gently reminds her that she is not Spirit Dragon, she is Tarot, and therefore is not and will never be perfect.

The Hot Springs Arc[]

Later Tarot becomes trapped at a spa along with many of the other neighborhood pets. Grape and Max notice Tarot's relationship with Peanut has become stagnant and helps the two out--Tarot admits that she wants Peanut to be more romantic while Peanut encourages Tarot to be more weird. Eventually, with Grape and Peanut enacting his and Tarot's relationship, their relationship problem is seemingly resolved.

Let's Imaginate Jurassic Park![]

Tarot makes an appearance in 2020, during Let's Imaginate Jurassic Park, part 2, starring as Ray Arnold. She holds pocky in her hands as a substitute for the character's cigarette. Tarot is seen complaining about the park's design and when Craig goes to get a snack from the vending machine, she nonchalantly gives him money, asking for a Zagnut. Later, as Tarot is struggling with the failing fences and attempts to hack into the computer with a little extra persuasion, the computer refuses her access for getting ahead of it by saying the magic word, causing her to flip out. As they attempt to restore the system, Tarot questions Grape's idea of resetting the system, before being ordered to do so. Once done, Tarot mentions that the reason the power was still not back, was due to the breakers being on the other side of the compound, sending a frustrated Grape off, smugly smoking her pocky stick.

HECKRAISER[]

She makes her next appearance in Heckraiser, as Peanut excitedly mentions that their neighbourhood had been selected to visit Heavenly Springs Eternal, at no cost. Tarot immediately realises that something of celestial scale is afoot, and quickly darts out of the door, before Peanut could ask her if she would like to go there with him. She reaches the Wolf House and heads upstairs to check, only to be greeted by the sight of what she had anticipated: Kitsune's golden statue is missing. She demands a heavenly denizen at the complaint booth to bring their manager, who asks if she wants to meet the Almighty. She ultimately demands to meet Cerberus. Cerberus tries to deter Tarot from getting involved in what was happening, until her left head admits that a portal to heck had been detected in the area, much to the other two heads' annoyance. She asks them why anything hadn't been done about it, before mentioning that celestials never really explained the workings of demonology to mortals. Left head agrees and asks the other two whether they were not supposed to teach mortals against ignorance, only to be shushed by middle.

When Cerberus mentions that Kitsune had asked all unaffected mortals to be moved out of the area, Tarot enquires further, before making Cerberus realise that she had forgotten to move Pete and Dragon's mortal forms (as shown by them being left in the forest all alone). She confronts Kitsune, saying that he needed her help, as he was taking it too slow searching for demons, and it would be better if they worked in groups. Kitsune mentions that he isn't exactly a team player, to which Tarot points out that he had been roleplaying and undermining his abilities for eons. Kitsune points out that she was this insistent on helping, because she wanted an opportunity to save the world. Kitsune lets her. Tarot takes it as proof that Kitsune really needed her, before asking who else could come along. Sabrina, King, Bailey and Grape would pass, while Grape would command an enthusiastic Peanut to put his hand down. Ultimately, Tarot, along with Marion, Lois, Todd, Kitsune, Kix and Keene head down to Earth, only to be greeted by Karishad welcoming them back. She splits the party into teams and hands them all search grids that she had prepared, asking them to be on the lookout for demonic symbols. She warns them not to engage, or be spotted by demons, if anyone sees them, and leave the area, until Kitsune could detect them.

She heads back to D'Angelo residence, to prepare counter-spells for any possible demon encounters (to possibly be able to claim a demon kill for herself). Upon being reminded by Marion that she had told them not to engage any demons, Tarot responded by saying that she was just 'being prepared', before attempting to look up a chapter on throwing a real-life Kamehameha wave, much to Marion's annoyance. Ultimately, she finds a ghost-detecting device perfect for the job. Lois points out its similarity to the P.K.E Meter from Ghostbusters, to which Tarot asks her not to compare it with items from pop-culture, pointing out that it was more like an 'Aurascope', before Lois would drop that they also called it that in Ghostbusters. Tarot secretly sniffs, because it was definitely not like she wanted to patent it or anything.

Signal 1[]

Tarot detects two signals, one from the Downtown, and the other in the direction of the Milton Manor, and instructs Karishad to keep his eyes peeled for any diabolical activity. Later, when the gang is downtown, Tarot helps a human turned into an aardvark call in to work, although her idea leads to his boss noticing a somewhat bearish trend in the market. Eventually, thanks to Tarot's demonic energy detecting device, the party manages to stumble across a gigantic demon, who perhaps wasn't as unfamiliar to them, as they would have expected. Soon after Tarot gets out of the car being lifted up by Demon-Steward, and Lois pointing out the familiarity of the demon's talking points, Tarot figures out that the demon was no other than Steward himself, followed by reading up and doing some catching up herself, already having done nothing but explain things for the last ten hours. Unfortunately, she fails to find a counter spell, as mortals turning into demons had never been recorded before and ends up trapped in the car, with the rest, soon realising that there was nothing she could do, and it was now up to Kitsune to sort the mess out. She starts brainstorming ideas, and initially rejects Todd's suggestion to split up in all directions with frustration, before realising that it was exactly what she would have proposed. When Demon-Steward refuses to let them drink water and use the bathroom, telling them to wallow in their own excrements like other demons, Tarot expresses her disgust and asks Steward whether he had actually been to heck, leading the demon to admit that he had just assumed.

After Todd accidentally causes Steward to rip open the roof of the car they were trapped in, Tarot, along with the rest of the party, escape in different directions. When Steward notices Tarot, he attempts to reach for her, the Pomeranian barely escaping from his clutches. She runs down a flight of stairs, before the aardvark points out that there were lifts in the building all along, while Tarot caught her breath. Unfortunately, Stewards manages to catch them both, pasting them to the wall using his saliva, clearly not a pleasant experience for her.

Later, when thanks to Lois and Marion, Kitsune finds out about the demonic presence and manages to defeat him in an anime-style battle, Tarot, along with the rest, are seen teleported to the spot where a now mortal Steward and Trinket are seen lamenting their deeds, overwhelmed by guilt for their actions; a side effect of their demonic energies being removed straight out of them.

Afterwards, when Kitsune doesn't want to turn the affected back to humans, Tarot calls out his reasoning for the same, saying that if he had taken on a sapient form, he was not immune from consequences, unlike forces of nature, and the least he could do would be to do what he was capable of, to fix things, before Kitsune would put the matter on hold, reminding the party that there were still two demons at loose. After Steward aids the party in figuring out Eudoant's plans, Tarot is quick to interject that he, along with a small dino demon that Steward had mentioned, would be most likely headed to Egypt (most likely to Dragon's temple) and Demon-Steward might have been a mere distraction.

A mere distraction?[]

After Kitsune drops off the mortals at Jessica's den with Kix, Tarot start pondering upon how to get to Egypt, just in case Kitsune is defeated (in reality, she most likely says this not to not miss her opportunity to save the world), only for Karishad to appear out of nowhere. She panickily asks Karishad, if he could help in some way, after which, she turns to the rest to think of possible solutions. When Marion asks her if this was not just an attempt for her to claim glory, she has a breakdown, admitting that she just wants to do it because she had been raised to save the world and to deal with her feelings of inadequacy, to be comforted by Steward.

After Keene, Breel and Negabreel emerge through the basement trap door, Tarot, along with the party, now including Kix, the kits, Keene, Breel and Negabreel head to Egypt aboard Keene's private jet. She manages to convince Kix to believe that bringing along the kits was needed, using the fact that she wanted to do the opposite of what Kitsune said whenever he would do something stupid, against her, remarking to Craig that she had learnt from the best. When Lois asks why everyone was forgetting their reasons for tagging along, Tarot suspects high altitude hypoxia, before rambling gibberish and fainting.

Ante-Boss Fight[]

Later, at the collapsed temple, Tarot would put on a paper bag, saying 'Me but more powerful', before entering, similar to how it was used in Temple Crashers 2, along with the rest of the party, who would also put on paper bags for getting different abilities once inside. When Steward tries to make the party a way to get in, revealing a dark, hellish void of nothingness, Tarot comments that she had stared into this void before, before the entire party gets sucked in.

(Dark Souls music starts playing)[]

Once the party lands on terra-firma, they, along with Tarot, watch Kitsune battling it out with Eudoant. Tarot comes to the conclusion that the shining orb visible in front of them was Dragon's mana pool, and they needed to get Craig and Draig there, to bring back Spirit Dragon and Pete. She also informs Enby that the temple was gone. After Todd is seemingly zapped into oblivion, Tarot ushers them to spread out. Later, she helps Kix and Steward bring the kits to the mana, all while dodging Eudoant's eye beams. When Lois gets vapourised, Tarot manages to catch them both, while clinging onto a ledge barely by her teeth. Luckily, thanks to Marion distracting the demon, using his squirrel abilities, Tarot manages to recuperate and toss them into the mana, before she could be obliterated by the demon's eye. Her sacrifice is not in vain, as she manages to bring back Pete and Spirit Dragon.

After a big butt-kicking fight, while Todd has a crisis outside the ruins, Kitsune worries whether death is actually as horrible as he had described, before she points out that they were in reality, brought back to the surface, on being blown up, as only their astral forms had entered the void, and that Todd was merely complaining because the food truck was out of baklava.

When Cerberus offered boons to everyone, Tarot said that she already had what she wanted: To be the one to save the world. Although she revelled in her sense of pride a little too hard, she had been working towards this moment all her life. Although commenting that perhaps she should have read the contract everyone signed, She was soon bothered when Kari chimed in that they all wouldn't need his protection anymore. She didn't want anyone to rain on her parade and was clearly annoyed, (apparently, Karishad was responsible for ensuring that they all returned back safe). When Karishad kisses Tarot's hand to say goodbye, Tarot is concerned whether he had something more up his sleeve again, but the party, along with Tarot would be poofed back to America.

Post-Heckraiser[]

Much later, Tarot and Sabrina would be relaxing, sitting on a hillside. Sabrina asks Tarot what would she do with her life, now that she had achieved her goal. Tarot proposes that Keene was looking for a magic consultant, before perhaps bringing to light a piece of information that might lead to bigger future developments.... (like puppies).
